Dreamchaser

“I have a dream” Martin Luther King declared in his famous speech. I did my first own declaration when I was 6 years old. It might not have been said with such a power, but it was a clear statement.

It was a cold winter morning; my mum hadn’t let me go to play outside as it was -30°C. I was trying to figure out how to read in the kitchen while my mum was cooking. Out of the blue, I declared my dream. I still remember that moment. I raised my look from the book and said, “Mum, when I’m grown up, I move abroad.”

Boom! There it was. My first ‘I have a dream’ declaration. There was no doubt about it whether I could make it or not, I did believe in my dream 100%!

This dream didn’t let me settle down in Finland. Once I ended my karate competition career in 2002, it was time to make this dream come true. I joked to my mum that at least I had given her a long notice to get used to the idea. First I headed to Mallorca, then to London, and then to Barcelona, which has been my home for 10 years.

September 26th I will say temporarily goodbye to this lovely metropolitan and start a new chapter of my story in Santa Monica. Living in the USA has been another dream of mine for years and now it’s coming true! I’m a dreamchaser!

Do you have a dream? Are you taking steps to make it true?

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.” –Henry David Thoreau
